Nick Cave
I’ve been wanting to practice my editorial and portrait work for a while, so I took up the challenge set by Illustration Rally and drew Nick Cave. What a legend, you Prince of Darkness.

With all the political unrest and upheaval in the world at the moment, it’s pretty important to reflect on what values we care about or represent, whether or not we’re aware of it. I realise I’m pretty lucky to live in a country where you can speak your mind or protest or believe what you like without being jailed or worse, killed. Things like that make me feel like art is sometimes a selfish, indulgent pursuit, but people like JR (who won the TED prize) remind us that art can be used to affect and change and inspire. Thought I would draw something a bit more meaningful today.
‘What Song Is That?’ is the labour of love project I’m currently working on. When my friend Michael told me about his idea for a book, I loved it and jumped at the chance to illustrate it. Colourful and quirky, it contains 100 pictograms which prompt you to guess the name (and artist) of universally recognised songs – from Tiny Dancer to Ice Ice Baby to Sex on Fire!
We need your support to get it published and out there! Signed book copies, prints, t-shirts and your name in the thankyous as part of the rewards for pledging your support. Pledges are only processed if we reach our goal. It will make for a great gift or party/drinking game! Go HERE to show your support.
Can you guess what this one is?

Here’s the latest work as part of the series I’m doing based on Murakami’s books – I’m Wound Up Well. Guess which book!
