Rah Collective is a terrific young art collective from Sydney, whose work sprawls across illustration, printmaking and design. They’ve just released their first book and are launching it this week at aMBUSH Gallery in Sydney! The book is full of pieces and interviews by the gang as well as a bunch of other emerging artists, including yours truly. The launch will show a bunch of works from some of the artists – I also hear there is going to be Icelandic beer! If you’re in Sydney this week, come along, grab a beer, check out the works and say hi!
You can also get your hands on a copy of the book for $30 HERE.
If you’re a fan of Joy Division, New Order or just the British Underground scene in general, keep your eyes peeled in JB Hi Fi for a little zine project I worked on recently with Warner Music. I had lots of fun with this! It has some great interviews with people like Peter Hook (from the aforementioned bands) and Nigel House (Rough Trade). I hope we get to do another issue on The Smiths!
I’ve been chosen as one of the finalists in the Footlocker Art Prize, officially Australia’s biggest art prize with a top prize of $50,001 and over 6000 entries. Yes! I’m very chuffed and proud, there have been some fantastic entries in this competition. You can see the rest of the finalists HERE and also cast your vote for the People’s Choice prize.
There is also going to be an exhibition of the finalists’ works in late July (in Sydney), stay tuned for the details.
Recently I was interviewed by Pedestrian TV, as part of a series of interviews with local creatives, including Jess Scully, Ben Frost, Gideon Shoes and Secret Squirrel. It’s the unabridged version (about 18min) – but if you are keen to hear more about my work, how I started and some of my tips for other aspiring illustrators and artists, knock yourself out! I do also let slip a few details of my upcoming solo show later this year…

Also received news recently that one of my London illustrations was chosen for the upcoming Semi Permanent book, which should be out in September.

The Footlocker Art Prize is officially the biggest art competition in Australia, with a major prize of $50,001! What?! Crazy. Anyone can enter (from Australia or NZ), anyone could win. There’s some great entries, I decided to enter a piece about my favourite pair of sneakers. Everyone’s got a favourite pair – what’s their story?
You can find more info about the comp here. Entries close tomorrow at 6pm (AEST)!
