It is really, really sad to be hearing of news of Corey Haim’s passing this morning. He was one of our favourite 80s teen idols, along with the other Corey (Feldman), and together they starred in classics like The Lost Boys, License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream. They may have gone through some rather troubling times, but the memory and glory of the Haimster and Feldog shall never die. Haimster, we salute you.

I recently pitched a tshirt design for a charity…after several changes and attempts I didn’t end up getting it. Such is life, my original pitch was too ‘cartoony’ but I still really like it. So here it is!

Hideaway Gallery

Hideaway Gallery is a new art gallery opening in the Golden City AKA Ballarat! They will be specialising in contemporary and street art. To celebrate the opening, they are having a show, opening on Feb 27th, featuring limited edition prints.

Yours truly is showing a couple of prints in the exhibition, my Geisha and Himeji Castle prints from my Japan series. They will be available for sale at the show.

Thanks to everyone who came to the show on the weekend, it was great to see so many people there. And thanks to Rebecca Murphy for doing such a great job putting the whole show together! Here’s a few photos of my final works, if you’re interested in purchasing anything, drop me a line. The set on display is on acrylic (perspex) but the Ziggy prints are also available on Stonehenge paper, limited to a run of 5 prints each. All the unsold works from the show will still be available on the exhibition website for a few months.

This Little Piggy – Feb 12-14

I have mentioned it before, but left reminding you all a bit late… mostly because I was hoping to have some sneak previews of my works up with the post, particularly for those of you keen on getting your hands on some! So the uber-lovely Rebecca Murphy, a very talented artist in her own right, has gotten together a bunch of 25 artists and organised this awesome exhibition, where 25 piggy banks meet their fate at our creative hands!

We’re also showing some of our artworks alongside our piggies. Most (if not all) of the works will be up for sale, including mine. There is a piggy very dear to my heart, I shall call him Ziggy. I’ve also done a limited run of pieces, which are in a set of 3 prints (screenprint/aerosol/gold leaf). There will be one, yes ONE exclusive set on perspex. I am also doing the set of prints on some very nice, archival paper – these will be limited to 5 editions of each. The perspex edition will be up and hanging at the exhibition, where you will also be able to purchase the prints if that is more suited to your wall/wallet.

Did I mention it’s at China Heights gallery? That has been a bit of a dream of mine, to one day see my works hanging on their walls and I can tick it off the list very shortly. NB. China Heights is back in the old spot (Foster St, Surry Hills), though it is a new-old spot, thanks to their renovations!

Opening night starts at 6pm on Feb 12th and the show runs until the 14th. The show has also been sponsored by Frankie magazine and Leeloo which is a great kudos.

Here is a little sneak preview of the piggy and prints. The actual prints will vary individually due to the spraypaint/screenprinting process! Plus I just bought some gold leaf and will be adding some to both Ziggy and the prints.

I am really over the moon and excited to be announcing my first stockist of Little Gonzales’ clothing! Let’s all give a warm welcome to Pigeonhole, who are responsible for spreading the good word of independent fashion, home and design products from all around the world. They have 3 lovely stores in Perth (Bon Marche, London Court and Shafto Lane), which I can’t wait to go visit. They also have an online shop for the rest of us!

Daniel Johnston & Old Man River

Daniel Johnston, that very special, strange man is playing some headline shows this Feb, thanks to Laneway Festival and Hub! Joining him as his band will be Old Man River. These are going to be some rather special shows, so come along! I got to do a nice one-off tour poster for them.
