Lately I’ve been getting my web-geek on and doing a bit of website design for some cool people. Nate Martin is a cinematographer who has done music videos for Philadelphia Grand Jury, Kid Courageous and Seth Haapu amongst others. He’s also an awesome chap. Dombrovskis is a fashion label started by my friend Monica, inspired by clean lines, understated sophistication, young love, old Hollywood and small luxuries. Keep your eyes out for her stuff, it’s a bit swoon-worthy.

I am incredibly chuffed to share that I have been shortlisted for this year’s Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards – which are a grant program helping young creatives reach the next level professionally. Winners get to mentor with amazing people like Deanne Cheuk and Marc Newson, as well as receiving $5K in cash and $5K in flights to help them realise their vision. I’ve been nominated (top 10) for the Visual Communication category.
Overall, I am amongst some stellar creative company – Dion Lee, Ben Briand, Jordan Askill, Dan Boud, Matt Huynh, Cloud Control, Washington, Greedy Hen – the list goes on. 70 talented people! Not to mention Jess Scully, who is Director of the program. Being amongst these people who I really respect and look up to is an honour. The finalists are announced early October, wish me luck!
…when I think about New York. This illustration was for a bit of fun. Though can someone please write a book with that title?

Old Man River‘s 2nd album TRUST is released in Australia tomorrow! It’s the culmination of months of work for me and we’re all excited! I did all of the artwork for this project – it’s incredibly rewarding to see the fruit of all my hard work. You can find it in all good music retailers and on iTunes. To celebrate, I’m giving away a pack including a digipak of the album, one of my t-shirts and a pack of my cards to one of you lovely folk. Just leave a comment on my Facebook page answering the question ‘Who would you trust with your life?’ and I will be picking one at random as a winner – deadline 17th Sept. (If you don’t use Facebook at all, first you need to get with the times, then secondly, send me an email with your name and answer and I’ll make sure you go in the running.)
Old Man River is kicking off his national Trust tour this weekend – be sure to check it out! Check out snippets of the album HERE.

I’ve often thought that the humble t-shirt is possibly the most accessible form of art there is for the masses. On that note, I’m really excited and chuffed to share the news that I am working on a collaboration with renowned t-shirt label Graniph. Graniph specialise in limited-edition designer tshirts – based in Tokyo, but with stores all over Japan, as well as Taiwan, Hong Kong and Sydney (The Galleries Victoria). I’ve loved their shirts for a long time, they work with terrific artists and their shirts are great quality at prices that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
I’ll have two designs coming out early next year – so stay tuned!
